Uproar
The word uproar is used to refer to a loud and impassioned noise or disturbance. It is also used to denote a public expression of protest or outrage
Origin
The word, which has been around since the 1520s, actually has no etymological connection with the roars of animals. While the word roar comes from Old English rarian, uproar is derived from the Dutch word oproer.
Even though it initially took the Dutch meaning of insurrection or revolt, it gained its current popular meaning through a process of folk etymology and uproar took on connotations of noisiness as well
Usage
The decision to sack Virat Kohli as India’s ODI skipper in an unceremonious manner has created quite an uproar.
