How does an electrical flyswatter work?

The electrical flyswatter is considered one of the most effective tools for eliminating pesky insects like flies and mosquitoes. It was invented by a Taiwanese inventor, Tsao-i-shih

Shaped like a tennis racket, the odd and even rods on its wiry grid are oppositely charged. By pressing and holding down a button, the flyswatter generates an electrical charge. When an insect flies close to the grid, its body acts as a conductor between the rods and a spark is generated, roasting the insect. The advantage of the electrical flyswatter over conventional swatters is that it can effectively kill airborne insects.

The handle of the swatter is fitted with rechargeable batteries. The gadget works after being charged for a few hours.

The amount of electricity generated is not dangerous to humans.
