Born on October 6, 1887, Charles-Edouard Jeanneret also known as Le Corbusier, was a Swiss-French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer and one of the pioneers of what is now called modern architecture.
In a career spanning five decades, Corbusier designed buildings in Europe, Japan, India, North and South America of which 17, including the Capitol Complex in Chandigarh, India, made it to the World Heritage list. They are collectively known as The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier, an Outstanding Contribution to the Modern Movement.
