Which palace is known as water palace of Tripura?

Known as the ‘water palace’ of Tripura, New Mahal was constructed as a summer residence for Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur in 1930. Located in the middle of Lake Rudrasagar, the palace lies 53 kms away from Agartala and assimilates Hindu and Muslim architectural styles. It is the largest of its kind in India. The western side of the palace is known as Andar Mahal, and was reserved for the royal family. The eastern side included an open-air theater where drama, theater, dance and other cultural events were organized for the enjoyment of Maharajahs and their royal families. The palace has 24 rooms in total.

The festival observed for 3 days and many colourful cultural programme and event play at the evening. A big attraction of the Neermahal water festival is boat race in Rudrasagar Lake. Different kinds of boats are participates in that boat race competition. Apart from that swimming competition also organised in the festival.

Neermahal festival second time organised in the month of December every year with some glorious cultural event at cold atmosphere of winter season.
