What are some of the slogans of the freedom movement?

India awoke to freedom on 15th August, 1947. The journey to freedom was one filled with sacrifice and suffering, but the people of India never lost heart. Whenever their steps faltered, their leaders were there to urge them on by example, and with stirring slogans.

The most famous of these was ‘Jai Hind’ which was first used by Subhash Chandra Bose. Bankim Chandra Chatterjee’s ‘Vande Mataram’ was also a war cry for the freedom fighters. ‘Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it,’ said Lokamanya Tilak.

Not only did these slogan motivated people to fight for their rights, but also provoked the love for country in the hearts of thousands of people. ‘Satyamev Jayate’ or ‘Truth Alone Triumphs’ is a slogan that has not only been adopted as the national motto of India, but is also inscribed in script at the base of our national emblem.

There are many more such stirring words whether it is Bhagat Singh’s ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ or Netaji’s ‘Give me blood and I will give you freedom’.

It is these slogans that kept our freedom fighters going till India was free from British bondage.
