Why did race car drivers start wearing suits made of Nomex?

You might have watched car and bike races on TV. The drivers race at remarkable speeds to reach the finishing point. At times, some of the race cars crash tragically and catch fire due to the immense heat produced in the action. Some of the racers survive with severe burns, while many others burn to death.

A search for flame-resistant suits began after the death of talented race car drivers like Fireball Roberts and Eddie Sachs. All the searches ended in Nomex. Nomex is inherently flame-resistant which will provide the racers time to escape from the burning car. It is light in weight, durable and comfortable to wear.
