Do we have an alternative for wool?

Wool and fur are obtained from different animals and a lot of them are harmed or even killed to make wool. Nowadays, the numbers of these animals are dwindling and wool is becoming rare. How are we going to make winter wear for all without wool and fur? Don’t worry. We won’t out of them, thanks to Orlon, a synthetic polymer.

Orlon is the brand name of acrylic. Acrylic feels like wool. It is soft and light in weight. It does not shrink and is resistant to sunlight. It can withstand high temperatures. Acrylic is washable and can be dyed into any colour. These qualities make acrylic the ideal substitute for wool. In addition to this, acrylic is cheaper than wool and that ensures its success in the market. Acrylic is used to make socks, sweaters, gloves and shawls.
