Professor Minerva McGonagall serves many roles at Hogwarts; she is the head of the Gryffindor House and professor of Transfiguration. She serves as the Deputy Headmistress under Albus Dumbledore. She is also a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Later, Professor McGonagall also takes the position of Headmistress.
Professor McGonagall is held in high respect by her peers and students at Hogwarts. She is skilled in many forms of magic. She is a registered Animagus. An Animagus is a wizard who can transform into an animal at will. She is also notable for her sternness and dry sense of humour. Dame Maggie Smith portrays Professor McGonagall in the Potter films.
