What is the function of liver?

The liver is the largest organ inside the human body. All the body’s blood flows through the liver for processing and purification during this vital stage of the digestive system.

The liver has many different roles, but one of the most important is controlling the chemical make-up of the blood to keep body conditions stable. Nutrient-rich blood from the small intestine flows directly into the liver, which makes these nutrients more useful for the body and removes harmful chemicals. The liver also makes bile, fluid used by the small intestine to help digest fats.

When the liver has broken down harmful substances, its by-products are excreted into the bile or blood. Bile by-products enter the intestine and leave the body in the form of feces. Blood by-products are filtered out by the kidneys, and leave the body in the form of urine.’
